Deep Dive.
Aven (AVY) is a solana token. Specifically a token-2022, which is a modernized version of the legacy solana token-program.
A Token-2022 is unique for its capabilities, which consume fewer compute units on the Solana blockchain compared to the legacy token program. By leveraging specific 'extensions' hard-coded into the token itself, it enables extreme protections such as freeze authority, permanent delegate, confidential transfers, and growth aggregators like transfer fees.
Aven's specific extensions are listed below.
Permanent Delegate:
Allows for the token creator to move all tokens at will and without permission.
Why?
To retrieve stolen tokens for our customers. This is why applying your email is useful to determine ownership.
Freeze Authority:
Allows for the token authority to freeze tokens at will and without permission.
Why?
To establish trust, we only freeze tokens that are abused in extremely rare cases.
Mint Authority:
Allows for the token authority to mint tokens.
Why?
To allow a self-balancing market mechanism that prioritizes growth.
Transfer Fees:
Allows for the token authority to apply a fee at every Aven transfer. Current transfer fee is 1 token, regardless of amount.
Why?
To discourage bot dusting.
Confidential Transfers:
Allows for the token authority to approve confidentiality of token holders.
Why?
To allow approved holders, some confidentiality in their holdings.
Metadata authority:
Allows for the token authority to manage Aven's metadata at anytime.
Why?
Not all services maintain uptime. We like the ability to migrate these services at will.
Close authority:
Allows for the token authority to close Aven at anytime.
Why?
It's a temporary security measure in case of token hijack.
Are other tokens similar to Aven?
Not many, the only recognizable token-2022 is Paypals PYUSD token. USDC also uses these type of authorities to prevent malicious actors from exploiting their tokens.
